Shannon’s Story

The Shannon Moore Trauma Trust was created following the tragic death of Shannon Moore, a vibrant, bright, loving and witty 21-year-old person, who took her life in 2018.

Shannon experienced early adversity and trauma for the first nine years of her life. After being removed from her birth parents’ care and placed in foster care, she was adopted by Liz and Steve Moore, who offered her a safe and loving home.

Shannon experienced Complex Post-Traumatic Stress, and in her teenage years, she struggled (enormously) with feelings of shame, anger, guilt, fear and confusion.

Following Shannon’s death, her family felt a deep sense of sadness that she had not been given access to specialist trauma therapy earlier in her life, which might have prevented her death.

They decided to set up the Shannon Moore Trauma Trust in memory of Shannon, with the aim of funding therapeutic care for children and adults who need it.
